Children’s Ministry
Children are always welcome in the Mass, as it is encouraged for them to witness the practice and tradition they are learning to participate in. However, parents are welcome to utilize the Lady Chapel or nursery for breaks with their children as needed.
For parents wishing their children to participate in the Children’s Ministry on Sunday’s during the 9:30 AM Mass, we have two classrooms upstairs dedicated to education and structured activities. The Mission of the Children’s Ministry is to introduce the youngest members of the parish to the practice of participation in the Mass, and lay the foundation for a life of prayer.
Children ages 0-3 are welcome in the Nursery classroom, where they loosely engage in activities related to the liturgical season; listening to stories, coloring, and craft activities. Ages 3-7 join the Education classroom where they follow God’s Big Story according to the liturgical calendar and practice prayer, singing hymns, and listening to lessons in a structure that closely parallels the Mass.
Drop off for the Children’s Ministry begins at 9:20 AM each Sunday, upstairs in the respective classrooms. See an usher for direction. Please direct any questions related to the Children’s Ministry to Amber Lane.
“If you want to raise your family in a traditional, orthodox community, look no further than St Mary’s. Bringing our family into mass at St Mary’s has provided a great opportunity for our toddlers to practice discipline, patience, and stillness, while witnessing their community participate in ancient tradition.”
- Lydia
“As a new mother, St. Mary’s has been a place of refreshment and grace for me. This parish welcomed my son, Hosea, with warmth and excitement when he first attended mass as a newborn, and their love for him has only grown! St. Mary’s received him into the family of God with care, respect, intentionality, and so many mid-mass smiles and waves. Even when he is extra excited during mass or crawling around on the floor mid-Bible study, St. Mary’s has given us nothing but helpful hands and wholehearted care.”
- Ana
“Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for such belongs the kingdom of heaven.” Mt 19:14
