Reflection - Prayer

(Rule of Benedict, Prologue)

“If we wish to dwell in the tent of that kingdom, we must run to it by good deeds or we shall never reach it. But let us ask the Lord”

LORD, who may abide in Your tabernacle? Who may dwell in Your holy hill? (Psalm 15:1)

 “After this question, let us listen to the Lord as He answers and shows us the way to that tent, saying” -

He who walks uprightly, And works righteousness,

And speaks the truth in his heart;

He who does not backbite with his tongue,

Nor does evil to his neighbor,

Nor does he take up a reproach against his friend; In whose eyes a vile person is despised,

But he honors those who fear the LORD;

He who swears to his own hurt and does not change;

He who does not put out his money at usury,

Nor does he take a bribe against the innocent.

He who does these things shall never be moved. (Psalm 15:2-5)

Almighty God, today may every thought, word and deed be pleasing in Thy sight. May the peace of God which passes all understanding be with us throughout this day, and with all those we love. Amen.
