                      EMBER WEDNESDAY AFTER LENT 1

Psalm 26

 Vindicate me, O Lord, For I have walked in my integrity.
I have also trusted in the Lord; I shall not slip.
Examine me, O Lord, and prove me; Try my mind and my heart.
For Your loving-kindness is before my eyes, And I have walked in Your truth.
I have not sat with idolatrous mortals, Nor will I go in with hypocrites.
I have hated the assembly of evildoers, And will not sit with the wicked.
I will wash my hands in innocence; So I will go about Your altar, O Lord,
That I may proclaim with the voice of thanksgiving, And tell of all Your wondrous works.
Lord, I have loved the habitation of Your house, And the place where Your glory dwells.
Do not gather my soul with sinners, Nor my life with bloodthirsty men,
In whose hands is a sinister scheme, And whose right hand is full of bribes.
But as for me, I will walk in my integrity; Redeem me and be merciful to me.
My foot stands in an even place; In the congregations I will bless the Lord.

 Psalm 4

Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness! You have relieved me in my distress; Have mercy on me, and hear my prayer. How long, O you sons of men,will you turn my glory to shame? How long will you love worthlessness
And seek falsehood?
But know that the Lord has set apart for Himself him who is godly;The Lord will hear when I call to Him.
Be angry, and do not sin. Meditate within your heart on your bed, and be still.

Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the Lord.
There are many who say, “Who will show us any good?”
Lord, lift up the light of Your countenance upon us. You have put gladness in my heart, more than in the season that their grain and wine increased.
I will both lie down in peace, and sleep; For You alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.

 Psalm 16

Preserve me, O God, for in You I put my trust. O my soul, you have said to the Lord,“You are my Lord, My goodness is nothing apart from You.”
As for the saints who are on the earth,“They are the excellent ones, in whom is all my delight.” Their sorrows shall be multiplied who hasten after another god;Their drink offerings of blood I will not offer,
nor take up their names on my lips. O Lord, You are the portion of my inheritance and my cup;
You maintain my lot. The lines have fallen to me in pleasant places;
Yes, I have a good inheritance. I will bless the Lord who has given me counsel;
My heart also instructs me in the night seasons. I have set the Lord always before me; because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved.

Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices;
My flesh also will rest in hope. For You will not leave my soul in Sheol,
Nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption.
You will show me the path of life; I n Your presence is fullness of joy;
At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

O ALMIGHTY God, who hast committed to the hands of men the ministry of reconciliation; We humbly beseech thee, by the inspiration of thy Holy Spirit, to put it into the hearts of many to offer themselves for this ministry; that thereby mankind may be drawn to thy blessed kingdom; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

ALMIGHTY and everlasting God, who hatest nothing that thou hast made, and dost forgive the sins of all those who are penitent; Create and make in us new and contrite hearts, that we, worthily lamenting our sins and acknowledging our wretchedness, may obtain of thee, the God of all mercy, perfect remission and forgiveness; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
